New Crust
I dreamed I
was in a group of professing Christians. A lot of them were members of my
extended family and people in my past acquaintances. One of these family
members who has been adamantly against gifts of the Spirit that are outwardly
miraculous, including the gift of tongues, stood up and gave a testimony to the
group of what she now believes. The first thing she said was that she believes
in the gift of tongues. I was shocked by this because of what I knew of her
previous position. People started saying that they were for or against such a
belief. It went around the circle of the room. Everyone leading up to me, other
than this family member, said that they did not believe in the gift of tongues
for this time. I said that I did and tried to briefly expound, but people
started talking over me and shutting me out. They also taunted me and
challenged me to demonstrate. I refused, saying that I would not make a
spectacle of God's grace in such a group. Later, I asked the leader of the
group if he could gather everyone and keep them quiet so that I could clarify
what I was trying to say previously, for in the midst of that first discussion,
one of my family members had made a sarcastic statement that undermined the
truth. I hoped to clarify any possible misunderstanding of God's true gifts of
grace to His people. It took a very long time to get everyone quiet, for there
were some young people that were very rowdy. Finally, I started to speak, but
after only a brief time, the people started to talk over me again. I tried to
continue speaking over the din, when another family member of mine who had been
my strongest opposition came behind me and laid a gentle hand on my shoulder.
He and his wife were both there together, and his wife had also been opposed to
God's miraculous gifts. I stood up to him and said, "If you're here to
lecture me again, I will not hear it." He replied that he was not. He had
a certain tenderness about him as if he was sympathetic toward me that I was
being so cruelly ignored. This surprised me.
At some point during the gathering, I had
been given a pie. I don't remember why. In my real life, I need to eat
gluten-free flour, and I was aware that this pie was made of regular wheat
flour, which contains gluten. This family member who came up to me did not say
much. He started to make an attempt to cut off the crust of the pie. I could
see what he was trying to do. He wanted to replace the glutinous crust with gluten-free
crust. I stopped him, and in front of him, I went online and ordered the
filling from the same producer who had made the pie. He was pleased. He
realized I was going to completely redo the pie without any contaminants of the
previous crust, but I would not compromise the premium quality of this producer
who was known for excellent pie.
I woke up, and I was pondering this dream,
sensing that it had to do with the spiritual condition of certain family
members who have been opposed to God's miraculous means in the church. He was
changing mentalities. He was completely redoing the crust of old religious
thinking and putting His Spirit in the new crust that was uncontaminated by the
religious spirit. I immediately thought of Jesus' words:
"No one
sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears
away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. And no one
puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins—and
the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh
wineskins" (Mark 2:21-22).
The Lord is about to do a
startling work of grace in some of the people who are bound by the religious
system. They have not been able to accept the new wine of the New Covenant
because they have not been given new wineskins. They are bound by the spirit of
religion created by man-made doctrines. While they say they believe in God's
power to save, they deny that power in full or in part by their everyday lives.
They have been set apart and marked by the Spirit of Christ, even as the pie I
had received contained filling that I could eat. But the crust of religion is
keeping them from eating what God has given to them. God is about to transform
many of His Remnant who are bound in these churches, including those that the
Bride might consider a lost cause. God will expose their folly and in His mercy
bring them to repentance. All glory to our great and gracious King Yeshua!
2 Timothy 3:1-9: "But understand this, that in the last days there
will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers
of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful,
unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal,
not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of
pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but
denying its power. Avoid such people. For among them are those who
creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray
by various passions, always learning and never able to arrive at a
knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men
also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the
faith. But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to
all, as was that of those two men."
